When applying carpet freshener, make sure your pets are in another room to prevent direct inhalation of the product or from walking in it after it is applied and before it is vacuumed up.

Sprinkle the carpet freshener on your carpet (rug, upholstery, car mats, etc).

Allow the carpet freshener to sit for 15 minutes or so, then thoroughly vacuum the area.

My carpet freshener is safe and non-toxic for dogs and cats. If a pet walks on the carpet freshener before it is vacuumed up, just wipe or rinse their feet off. Even small amounts of contact or ingestion will not be harmful.

If your pets show signs of discomfort, such as coughing, sneezing, or skin irritation where they might have come into contact with the carpet freshener, then your pet may have a sensitivity and you should stop using this product and thoroughly clean the area.

Consult your vet before using the carpet freshener with birds or other pets with extremely sensitive or impaired respiratory systems.
